ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS

Great Ocean Road Resort management and staff acknowledges Traditional Owners and their connection to the land on which we are located, Wadawurrung Country. We acknowledge their Ancestors and their continuous connections with and care of the land and waterways and all that has lived here for over a thousand generations.

We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. We extend this acknowledgement to all First Nations people.

ACCESSIBILITY
SUSTAINABILITY VISION

As a host of travellers to this region, Great Ocean Road Resort recognises our role to create sustainable experiences for guests. We seek to minimise the environmental footprint of our operations and choose to work with suppliers who do the same. Our approach is defined by ongoing adaptation, continual improvement and communicating the why behind the what.

"Our ultimate goal? To preserve the Great Ocean Road region for future travellers to experience the beauty locals see in the region every day."

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

We have partnered with Rewild Agency to develop our Sustainability Strategy, identifying four key focus areas and developing a clear goal for each area.

1. SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY

To conduct business in a way where our operations are supported by local suppliers who align with our values and allow us to reduce our environmental impact while increasing the social benefits.

2. WASTE MANAGEMENT

To design efficient waste management systems to reduce the amount of waste-to-landfill generated across Great Ocean Road Resort and take steps towards zero waste-to-landfill (2030/2035).

3. REGENERATION

To preserve the Great Ocean Road region for future tourists to enjoy and to increase levels of biodiversity within the venues we operate on.

4. ENERGY & GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

To take steps to become a net zero organisation by 2030 and increase energy efficiency throughout operations.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Throughout the property, we are committed to recycling and reducing our waste, encouraging and making it simple for our guests to do the same. In our guest rooms, you'll find:

  • Labelled bins for separating your waste; general waste, glass, paper & plastic

  • Door hanger sign to opt-out of daily room servicing to conserve water

  • The Herbalist Bells Beach bathroom amenities including body wash, shampoo & conditioner

You can also limit shower times or water usage to conserve water.
