ENVIRONMENTAL AIMS & OBJECTIVES

At Great Ocean Road Resort we are committed to delivering the best possible experience at the highest standard to all our guests and visitors. We believe that to achieve this goal, now and into the future, it is our responsibility to conduct all aspects of our business in an environmentally sustainable framework. We will strive to do this by following the objectives stated below:

  • Work to minimise our use of resources including energy and water

  • Work to minimise our net greenhouse gas emissions

  • Work to minimise waste generation through adopting the principles ‘Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’

  • Ensure corporate responsibility is relevant through the procurement of products, services and compliance

  • Incorporate environmental considerations into the design and construction of all new buildings and renovations of existing structures

  • Provide ongoing training for staff to understand, implement and manage environmentally sustainable practices

  • Operate all aspects of the business in an environmentally responsible manner through efficient management of energy, water, waste, procurement and education

  • Educate guests on our environmental policies and encourage them to reduce their impact by developing their appreciation and understanding of our local environment

  • Employ locally

  • Monitor and assess environmental opportunities, risks and impacts regularly

  • Participate in local environmental programs, member of ANGAIR

  • Protect and support local flora and fauna

  • Reduce contributions to emissions and regularly reassess areas of improvement to reduce contributing to climate change

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS

Great Ocean Road Resort management and staff acknowledges the Wadawurrung People as the Traditional Owners of this land on which we operate. We acknowledge their Ancestors and their continuous connections with and care of the land and waterways and all that has lived here for over a thousand generations.

We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging who continue this custodianship for us all.

Accessibility

PRE ARRIVAL

At Great Ocean Road Resort we pride ourselves on our level of detail in making your stay with us the best possible experience.
To help us help you have a truly enjoyable stay please let us know 48 hours in advance if you have any special requests or requirements. We will happily do everything possible to meet your needs. Some items do incur a charge. 

Some of the things we are sometimes asked for are:

  • Ground floor accommodation for people with mobility challenges, we have some rooms with level entry or are ramped

  • Shower chairs

  • Stair gates

  • Porta cots

  • High chairs

FOOD ALLERGIES AND DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

 

We have our own restaurant on site, The Coast, our head chef and his team source the best possible local ingredients to create beautiful food. If you have any special dietary requirements please contact us so we can ensure your dining experience is as delicious as possible.

PARKING

 

We have ample onsite parking, while we don’t allocate parking specifically to rooms, if you need your vehicle to be as close as possible to your room please let us know.

GUEST CARE AND GUIDE DOGS

 

Guests with a disability may be accompanied by a certified assistance or guide dog during their stay. Owners are liable for any property damage caused by an assistance dog. We have designated first aid trained staff on site.

All of our facilities are accessible via ramps:

  • Restaurant

  • Reception

  • Day spa

  • Conference centre

  • Jumpz trampolines and deck

 

Our gym is level entry.

SIGNAGE
 

All on site signage has been designed for maximum readability and visibility throughout. All core signage is lit at night.

SAFETY

 

All external areas are lit at night, using timed lighting. This includes access to all rooms and facilities.
