8 Family Activities to try this Summer in Anglesea

The Surf Coast is made up of beautiful beaches and Australian bush land. The area is famous for being a hot spot of outdoor adventure, all year around – but there are some unique things you can do during the summer. Base yourself at the Great Ocean Road Resort in Anglesea these summer holidays and have convenient access to some family fun!

Here are 8 of our favourite local things to do, that we think your family would love, too!

1. JUMPZ ANGLESEA

Kids of all ages will have a ball bouncing off the walls at Jumpz Anglesea. Jumpz offers more than just trampolining, with a spacious deck and tennis court all in one location. There are shady umbrellas when it’s time for a rest, plus a fire pit and sunken lounge for the cooler nights. Over summer there’s an outdoor bar offering refreshing drinks, ice creams and food to refuel after trampolining. Jumpz is sure to fit in with your holiday plans, open 7 days a week from 10am until late.

2. ANGLESEA PADDLE BOATS

Enjoy some fun on the water and hire a paddle boat, motorised boat, aqua bike or canoe from Anglesea Paddle Boats, located on the riverbank next to the Anglesea Bridge. They provide all the equipment for your exciting river adventure, which is safe for the whole family.

3. SURF COAST STRAWBERRY FIELDS, TORQUAY

As soon as summer hits the coast, the locals start looking for delicious ripe strawberries. It’s even more fun picking your own strawberries, which you can do at Surf Coast Strawberry fields. Stay a while and enjoy a home-made strawberry ice-cream, and stock up on local goodies for sale like preserves and honey. The farm is conveniently located on the Surf Coast Highway, so you can grab some strawberries before your holiday on the Great Ocean Road, or on the way back home.

4. LUX SPA & WELLNESS, ANGLESEA

If you need some down time after all that activity, book a treatment at Lux Spa & Wellness. The establishment is in a quiet setting opposite the river, which encourages you to completely relax the body and mind. There are treatments for all ages and genders with massage, face and body treatments, including a facial specifically designed for teens! Choose your own experience or choose from their range of packages to suit couples or larger groups. For some Mother-Daughter time, we recommend the 'Girls Day of Bliss' or the 'Coast to Forest' Spa Journey where you can choose a trio of indulgent therapies.

5. LIVE WIRE PARK, LORNE

Live Wire Park is a hit with nature lovers and adrenaline junkies and is one of those special activities that you should definitely schedule into your summer holiday. The park has a range of different obstacle courses and elevated trails throughout the trees, including a Canopy Walk. For those who love a challenge, jump on Australia’s most extreme zipline and get your heart racing! With the new Spring Circuit (tree trampoline), there’s something for all ages!

6. MINI GOLF AT ANGLESEA GOLF COURSE

Mini golf is a great way for the family to spend time together and enjoy a little friendly competition! Amongst a beautiful bush setting, the local golf club has a fun 18-hole mini golf course. After your round, you can have lunch or refreshments in the club house (open every day) and join a little tour of the golf course where you can meet the dozens of kangaroos who make it their home.

7. ANGLESEA BIKE PARK

There are lots of bike trails around Anglesea, but if you have kids of different ages who want to get on their bikes, the easiest way is hang out for a day at the Anglesea Bike Park.

It has a professionally designed mountain cross track, jumps area and skills course. Spend the day there and take a picnic to enjoy under the shady picnic area. If you want to hire bikes and equipment whilst you’re here, look up Trailhead Bike Co and they’ll sort you out.

8. LEARN TO SURF, ANGLESEA

If you’re on a beach holiday, it makes sense to try surfing whilst you’re here! And what better way than with the experts at Go Ride a Wave? The friendly and encouraging team is experienced at teaching people of all ages and abilities to surf. The Anglesea main beach is a great spot to learn to surf, whilst the experienced surfers might like to head over to Torquay to Winkipop beach or Bells Beach.
